Marketing for Hispanic and Spanish-Language Congregations
For Spanish-language and bilingual congregations, parishes with Spanish Masses, and Hispanic ministries in every tradition.
Ambrose Marketing helps Hispanic and bilingual congregations reach their neighbors in the language they pray in. We plan the site structure, the search presence, the Business Profile and the invitations around how your church actually worships: in Spanish, in English, in both at once, or in separate services.
Spanish copy for your pages is written by a native Spanish speaker, either on our team or through a partner we work with. English and Spanish pages each read as though they were written first, because each one was written for its own reader.

Why Spanish-Language Congregations Need Their Own Marketing Plan
The Hispanic Protestant church in the United States worships mostly in Spanish. Among Hispanic Protestant pastors, Lifeway found that 69% conduct worship services in Spanish, 18% lead all bilingual services, 12% hold separate services by language and 2% worship only in English (Lifeway Research). An earlier Lifeway survey of 692 pastors put Spanish-only congregations at 53% and bilingual ones at 22% (Lifeway Research), so the exact share depends on the sample, but the direction is the same.
Language is not the only variable. A first-generation member may want everything in Spanish, while a teenager in the same family reads English faster and worships in Spanish only on Sunday. Good marketing serves both readers without making either one feel like an afterthought.
Religious identity among Latinos is shifting too. Pew's 2022 survey found that 43% of Latinos identify as Catholic, down from 67% in 2010, while 30% are religiously unaffiliated, up from 10% (Pew Research Center). Many of the people you hope to reach grew up in one tradition and are now deciding for themselves where, or whether, to belong.
Trust shapes every interaction. Many families are careful about what they share online, for reasons that range from ordinary privacy to immigration concerns. Forms that ask only for what the church needs, and say plainly how the information is used, earn more confidence than long registration pages.
We are a woman-owned creative agency in Naples, Florida, with a Manhattan office, working with organizations across the United States. Where Your Congregation Should Start
Choose the outcome that matters most and tell us how your church worships today. The language format often decides the first step, so it can change the suggestion you see.
What Research Shows About Hispanic Congregations
These figures come from Lifeway Research, Pew Research Center, the Assemblies of God, Catholic news coverage and Google Trends. Denominational figures are self-reported and labeled that way.
Spanish Masses are widespread
Dioceses reported 4,479 parishes with Masses in Spanish in a 2024 survey by the US bishops (USCCB), and about 22% of parishes responding to a 2021 CARA study had a weekend Spanish Mass (Catholic World Report). Pew puts the Hispanic share of US Catholics at 36% in 2023 to 2024, up from 29% in 2007 (Pew Research Center).
A large Hispanic share in Pentecostal churches
The Assemblies of God reports that Hispanic adherents made up 23.0% of its US adherents in 2023, or 686,429 people, across more than 2,961 Hispanic churches (Assemblies of God). These are the denomination's own figures.
New churches start in Spanish
In Lifeway's 2025 study of 292 new Hispanic churches, 65% worship only in Spanish, 20% are bilingual and 4% use English only (Lifeway Research). Spanish-first sites are the norm for a new Hispanic congregation, not a special case.
Spanish searches peak in Holy Week
Among the Spanish church phrases we measured over five years, "iglesia cerca de mi" led, ahead of searches for Catholic churches and Mass times, and every Spanish phrase peaked in the week of April 2 to 8, 2023, which was Holy Week that year (Google Trends). Most people type it without the accent that the correct spelling, cerca de mí, carries.
Hispanic Congregations Across Traditions
Spanish-language ministry spans nearly every tradition. Here is how the work changes with each.
- Catholic parishes with Spanish MassesSpanish Mass, confession and sacramental preparation schedules, often inside a parish that also worships in English or other languages. Our Catholic church marketing page covers the diocesan rules that also apply here.
- Pentecostal and Assemblies of God churchesExpressive worship, active youth ministries and, by the denomination's own count, a large Hispanic share of its adherents.
- Baptist and evangelical congregationsOften autonomous churches, or Spanish-language missions of an English-speaking church, each with its own decision-makers and approval path.
- Hispanic ministries inside English-speaking churchesA Spanish service that shares a building, a website and a brand with a larger congregation. It needs its own pages and its own voice, not a translated insert.
- New Hispanic church plantsMostly Spanish-only at launch, according to Lifeway's 2025 study, with the same venue and visibility challenges any young church faces.
- Bilingual and second-generation congregationsChurches that deliberately worship in both languages, or that began in Spanish and now serve the children of their founders in English.

Marketing Services for Hispanic and Bilingual Churches
We shape every piece around your worship format and the families you serve, starting with the place a Spanish-speaking neighbor is most likely to look first.
Native Spanish copywriting
Spanish copy written by a native Spanish speaker, on our team or through a partner, with attention to regional vocabulary, formal or familiar address, and accents written correctly. English copy is written alongside it rather than derived from it.
Bilingual website architecture
Separate pages for each language, connected with hreflang annotations in which every version lists itself and all the others, as Google requires (Google Search Central), or a single Spanish-first site where that matches how you worship.
Spanish search and Business Profile
Spanish-language service pages, a Business Profile that shows Spanish service times and a Spanish description, and local search work aimed at the phrasing your neighbors actually type.
Semana Santa and Christmas campaigns
Holy Week schedules, Easter invitations and Christmas services promoted in the language each audience prefers, published early enough for families to plan around work and travel.
Email in two languages
Separate Spanish and English lists, or a language preference at sign-up, so no family receives every message twice or in the wrong language.
Social media for two generations
Spanish content for families and older members, English or bilingual content for youth and young adults, with consent gathered before anyone's face or story is posted.
Privacy-minded forms
Contact, prayer request and event forms that collect the minimum, explain how information is used, and never ask for documents or status.

Rules for Marketing to Spanish-Speaking Congregations
Language, structure and trust are where Hispanic church marketing most often goes wrong. These are the constraints we plan around. This is general information, not legal advice. Receipt wording, Ad Grants eligibility, the campaign prohibition and limits on religious ad targeting apply to every congregation and are covered on our church marketing agency page.
One language per page you want found
Google recommends a different URL for each language version of a page and advises avoiding side-by-side translations (Google Search Central). A bilingual welcome page is fine for people; the pages meant for search should each stay in one language.
Hreflang must point both ways
Each language version must list itself as well as every other version, and if two pages do not point to each other, Google ignores the tags (Google Search Central). We check every pair before launch.
Let visitors choose their language
Google advises against automatically redirecting visitors between language versions based on a guess (Google Search Central). Offer a clear language switch at the top of every page and let people decide.
Let the worship format decide the structure
A Spanish-only church needs a Spanish-first site. A church with separate services needs parallel pages. A single bilingual service may describe itself in both languages on its own page, with single-language pages behind it. Lifeway's figures show that all three formats are common (Lifeway Research).
Collect only what the church needs
Ask for a name and one way to reply. Leave out fields for birthplace, immigration status or identification, keep prayer requests private by default, and state who will see what people submit.
Write accents and grammar correctly
A missing accent in días, or a page that mixes formal and familiar address, tells a reader the page was not written for them. Every Spanish string, including button labels and form errors, is written and checked by a native speaker.
Use your tradition's own words
A Catholic parish invites people to misa; many evangelical churches speak of the culto or the servicio. Use the vocabulary your congregation uses, and keep doctrinal statements in the language of your tradition.
The First 90 Days, Step by Step
We will not promise attendance. We will deliver a plan built around your worship format, careful work in both languages, and plain reporting.
Days 1 to 15: listen in both languages
We meet your pastor and ministry leaders, learn how and when you worship, and review your website, listing, social accounts and forms in Spanish and English.
Days 16 to 45: set the structure
Language architecture decided, Spanish and English pages written or rewritten by native writers, hreflang and a language switch added, and forms trimmed to essentials.
Days 46 to 75: invite your neighbors
Seasonal and event campaigns in the right language for each audience, a welcome email series, and Business Profile updates with Spanish service times.
Days 76 to 90: review together
Visits, form submissions, email engagement and search visibility reviewed by language, with priorities set for the coming season.

Hispanic Church Marketing Questions, Answered
Who writes the Spanish on our website?
A native Spanish speaker, either on our team or through a partner we work with. Writers adapt vocabulary and tone to your congregation, whether its families trace their roots to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Central America, South America or several places at once, and every Spanish string is reviewed before it goes live.
Should our church have separate Spanish and English websites?
Usually one website with separate language sections is enough. Each Spanish page gets its own URL and is connected to its English counterpart with hreflang. A completely separate site makes sense when the Spanish congregation has its own name, its own leadership and an identity distinct from the English-speaking church.
We hold one bilingual service. How should the site handle that?
Describe that service in both languages on its own page so families know what to expect, then keep the rest of the site in parallel Spanish and English sections. Google advises avoiding side-by-side translations (Google Search Central), so the bilingual page serves people while single-language pages carry search.
What do Spanish speakers type when looking for a church?
In our Google Trends review, "iglesia cerca de mi" was the most common Spanish phrasing measured, followed by searches for a Catholic church (iglesia católica) and for Mass (misa) (Google Trends). People usually skip the accents when typing, so pages should be spelled correctly while still matching those everyday words.
How do we reach second-generation young adults?
Meet them in the language they read most comfortably, which is often English, while honoring the Spanish their families worship in. Youth and young adult pages, social posts and event invitations can lead in English or mix languages, while the main service pages stay in your congregation's primary language.
What should our forms avoid asking?
Anything the church does not need. A name and a phone number or email address is enough for a visit or a prayer request. Do not ask for home addresses, birthplace, immigration status or identification online, and say clearly who will read what people submit and how long it is kept.
Are parishes with Spanish Masses a different case?
Partly. A parish usually needs Spanish Mass, confession and sacrament schedules inside a larger parish site governed by diocesan rules. In a 2021 CARA study, about 22% of responding parishes had a weekend Spanish Mass (Catholic World Report), and those schedules deserve a page of their own in Spanish.
When do Spanish church searches peak?
In the five years we reviewed, every Spanish church phrase peaked during Holy Week 2023 (Google Trends). Publish Semana Santa schedules early and give Christmas services the same attention. Seasonal pages can stay live and be refreshed each year so they keep their search history.
Is Hispanic church marketing only for Catholic churches?
No. Pew's 2022 survey found 43% of Latinos are Catholic and 30% unaffiliated (Pew Research Center), and the Assemblies of God reports, by its own count, that Hispanic adherents are 23% of its US total (Assemblies of God). Evangelical, Pentecostal and mainline churches all serve Spanish speakers.
Have you worked with Hispanic congregations before?
Not yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. We bring brand, web, search, email and event work from other sectors, Spanish copy written by native speakers, and careful attention to the language, structure and privacy rules set out on this page.
