# Ecommerce Marketing Agency: Scale Your Shopify Store & Explode DTC Revenue Nationwide

**Ambrose Marketing** helps independent product brands sell more of what they make online. Candle makers, jewelers, stationery studios, apparel labels, and home goods companies come to us for the brand, Shopify storefront, product photography direction, search visibility, and email programs that turn a first order into a second and a third.

We care about the details shoppers and regulators both notice: ship dates you can actually meet, origin claims you can back up, gifted products that creators disclose, and reviews you never pay for. Getting those right protects the trust a small brand works hard to earn.

#### *Smart Marketing for Product-Based Brands That Want to Scale*

## What our clients are saying…

## Why Ecommerce Brands Choose Ambrose Marketing in 2026?

Buying online is now an ordinary part of how Americans shop. In its August 18, 2026 release, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated seasonally adjusted retail e-commerce sales of $340.2 billion for the second quarter of 2026, or 17.1 percent of all retail sales, up 12.2 percent from a year earlier while total retail grew 6.7 percent.

Growth on that scale invites crowding. A small maker now sits in the same search results and social feeds as marketplaces and national retailers, and a shopper can compare a dozen similar candles or rings in a minute. What separates an independent brand is a clear story, honest product pages, and photography that shows texture, scale, and finish the way a store shelf once did.

Product brands also run on thin margins and repeat purchases. A store that only chases new visitors keeps paying for every sale, while one that earns a second order through email, packaging, and good service grows on a steadier footing. We plan for both from the first week.

Selling online comes with real obligations, too. Federal rules govern how you state shipping times, what you owe a buyer when an order runs late, when you can say a product is made in the USA, and how you handle reviews and gifted products. Florida also treats out-of-state sellers above a sales threshold as dealers for sales tax. We build those rules into the marketing rather than bolting them on afterward.

We are a woman-owned team based in Naples, Florida, with an office in Manhattan, and we work with makers and product companies across the country, many of them founder-led studios that still pack orders by hand.

## What Shapes How Shoppers Buy Online Today

These figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, along with Google and Shopify documentation, guide how we plan marketing for independent product brands.

### Online sales are a growing share of retail

The Census Bureau estimated adjusted e-commerce sales of $340.2 billion in the second quarter of 2026, which was 17.1 percent of total retail sales ([U.S. Census Bureau](https://www.census.gov/retail/ecommerce.html)). The estimates are revised periodically, and the next release is scheduled for November 19, 2026.

### Ecommerce is outpacing retail overall

The same release put year-over-year e-commerce growth at 12.2 percent, compared with 6.7 percent for total retail sales ([U.S. Census Bureau](https://www.census.gov/retail/ecommerce.html)). Shoppers are shifting more of their spending online, and small brands compete for that attention every day.

### Products can appear on Google at no cost

Through Merchant Center, eligible products can show in free listings across Google Search, the Shopping tab, Images, Lens, Maps, YouTube, and Gemini ([Google](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/9199328)). Shopify’s Google and YouTube channel syncs products to Merchant Center from your admin ([Shopify](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/google)).

### Product data has to match the page

Google asks merchants to submit price and availability that match the landing page, structured data, and checkout, and caps product titles at 150 characters and descriptions at 5,000 ([Google](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112)). A tidy feed is now part of being found.

## Different Products, Different Shoppers

A hand-poured candle and a fine jewelry piece sell for different reasons. This is how we adjust the plan for each kind of maker.

- **Home goods and textiles**Shoppers want to know how something feels and how it will look in their space. Detail photography, room settings, care guidance, and fabric or material specifics answer those questions before a return happens.
- **Candles and home fragrance**Scent is impossible to show on a screen, so words carry the load: clear notes, burn time, wax type, and vessel size, plus sampler sets and seasonal drops that give regulars a reason to reorder.
- **Fine and fashion jewelry**Trust comes first at higher price points. Accurate metal and stone details, close-up photography with scale, sizing help, and clear return terms reassure buyers making a considered purchase.
- **Stationery and paper goods**Gifting and planning seasons drive demand. Collections built around occasions, bundles, and email timed to back-to-school, the holidays, and the new year match the way these customers shop.
- **Apparel and accessories**Fit questions decide the sale. Size charts, measurements on the model, fabric content, and easy exchanges reduce hesitation, while consistent photography keeps a collection looking like one brand.
- **Gift and subscription brands**Recipients and buyers are often different people. Gift messaging, shipping cutoffs that are easy to find, and post-purchase emails to the buyer keep these stores working well past the holidays.

Selling it right
## Rules That Apply When You Sell Online

Online stores answer to federal trade rules, state tax law, and the policies of the platforms that send them traffic. These are the ones we plan around for every product brand we support. This is general information, not legal advice.

### Only promise ship times you can meet

Under the FTC’s Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule, a seller needs a reasonable basis to expect it can ship within the time it states, or within 30 days of a completed order if it states no time ([16 CFR 435.2](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-435)). Launch pages and preorder copy should reflect real production schedules.

### Tell buyers when an order runs late

If you cannot ship on time, the same rule requires offering the buyer the choice to accept the delay or cancel for a prompt refund, which generally means within seven working days, or one billing cycle when the seller itself extended the credit ([16 CFR 435](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-435)). We draft delay emails before the busy season.

### Back up any Made in USA claim

An unqualified Made in USA label requires final assembly or processing in the United States, all significant processing here, and all or virtually all ingredients or components made and sourced here ([16 CFR 323.2](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-323)). The rule also covers labels in mail order and online promotional material.

### Disclose gifted products and paid posts

Free or discounted products count as a material connection, even when no post is required, and that connection must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously ([16 CFR 255.5](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-255)). Advertisers are also expected to guide and monitor the creators they work with (16 CFR 255.1).

### Never buy or hide reviews

The FTC review rule bars incentives conditioned on a positive or negative review, and it prohibits presenting displayed reviews as most or all of the reviews when low ratings are being suppressed ([16 CFR 465](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-465)). Buying fake followers or views for commercial purposes is also prohibited.

### Florida sales tax for remote sellers

Florida treats a seller as a dealer once its taxable remote sales into the state exceeded $100,000 in the previous calendar year ([Fla. Stat. 212.0596](http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0200-0299/0212/Sections/0212.0596.html)). Out-of-state brands with Florida customers should confirm their obligations with a tax professional.

### Meet Google’s checkout requirements

To keep Shopping ads and free listings eligible, Google expects shoppers to find your return policy, terms, and a way to contact you, and treats missing information as misrepresentation ([Google](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/9158778)). We check these pages before any feed goes live.

Questions makers ask
## Ecommerce Marketing Questions, Answered

Where should a small online store spend its first marketing dollars?

Usually on the store itself. Strong product photos, clear descriptions, visible shipping and return policies, and a simple checkout make every later visitor more valuable. Once those are in place, search visibility and email tend to build value over time, while paid ads can test demand quickly.

Do we need Google Merchant Center if we sell on Shopify?

It is worth setting up. Shopify’s Google and YouTube channel syncs your products to Merchant Center ([Shopify](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/google)), and eligible products can then appear in free listings on Search, the Shopping tab, Images, and other Google surfaces ([Google](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/9199328)). The feed needs ongoing care so prices and stock stay accurate.

Can an online-only brand have a Google Business Profile?

It depends on whether customers can visit you. Google does not allow profiles for a rented mailing address you do not operate from, and its guidelines describe in-store product listings for retail businesses with physical locations ([Google](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177)). A studio or shop that welcomes customers during posted hours may qualify.

How long can we take to ship an order?

As long as you clearly state, provided you have a reasonable basis to meet it. If you state no time, the FTC rule expects shipment within 30 days of a completed order, and late orders require offering the buyer a delay or a refund ([16 CFR 435](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-435)).

Can we say our products are made in the USA?

Only if they meet the standard. An unqualified claim requires final assembly or processing here, all significant processing here, and all or virtually all components made and sourced here ([16 CFR 323](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-323)). If some materials are imported, a qualified statement, such as noting where the item was assembled, may be more accurate.

Can we offer a discount code for leaving a review?

Not one tied to a positive or negative rating. The FTC rule prohibits incentives conditioned on a review expressing a particular sentiment ([16 CFR 465](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-465)). Asking every customer for honest feedback after delivery is fine, and showing all reviews, including critical ones, builds more credibility anyway.

How should we work with creators and gifting?

Choose creators whose followers match your customers, put expectations in writing, and require clear disclosure of free products or payment ([16 CFR 255.5](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/part-255)). Smaller creators with engaged audiences in your niche often bring more qualified traffic than large general accounts.

Do we have to collect Florida sales tax if we are based in another state?

Possibly. Florida law makes a remote seller a dealer once its taxable remote sales into Florida exceeded $100,000 in the previous calendar year ([Fla. Stat. 212.0596](http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0200-0299/0212/Sections/0212.0596.html)). Other states have their own thresholds, so confirm the details with a tax professional.

What makes a product page convert?

Answering the questions a shopper would ask in a store. Show scale, texture, and color accurately, list materials, dimensions, and care, state ship times and return terms near the buy button, and include honest reviews. Remove anything that slows the page down on a phone.

Is email still worth it for a small brand?

Yes. Email reaches people who already chose to hear from you, and it does not depend on a social platform’s reach. A welcome series, a post-purchase sequence, and reminders tied to your product cycle, like candle refills or seasonal stationery, are usually the first flows to build.

How do we know whether marketing is working?

Watch the numbers that describe the business: sessions by source, conversion rate, average order value, repeat purchase rate, email revenue, and returns. Shopify and Google Analytics report most of these. We review them with you monthly and adjust the plan.

Have you worked with brands like ours?

Yes. From Naples and Manhattan, we have worked with product brands including [Maggie Valley Collective](https://www.ambrosemarketing.com/portfolio/maggie-valley-collective), [Redwood Whiskey Candle](https://www.ambrosemarketing.com/portfolio/redwood-whiskey-candle), and [Elizabeth Cole Jewelry](https://www.ambrosemarketing.com/portfolio/elizabeth-cole-jewelry). Each project page shows the work we did for that brand.
